Best supplements for old age

by Hamza Ijaz 22 Mar 2025

As we age, the body undergoes a variety of changes that can make everyday tasks more challenging. Many elderly individuals may begin to feel like a burden, as they struggle with mobility, energy levels, and maintaining overall health. However, one of the most important things we can do for our loved ones in their golden years is to ensure they have the nutrients they need to thrive. Despite their best efforts, the natural ageing process often makes it difficult for the body to absorb essential vitamins and minerals. This is where supplements can play a crucial role in maintaining their health and quality of life.

Why do the elderly need supplements?

The process of ageing isn’t easy on the body. The body’s ability to synthesize and regulate nutrients diminishes over time, making it crucial for them to supplement their diet with vitamins and minerals.

Here are some nutrients that are affected by old age the

1-    Vitamin D

Older adults often have mobility issues; this makes them stagnant at one place. Their exposure to sunlight decreases. Moreover, the skin doesn’t only lose elasticity due to ageing, but it also loses its ability to synthesize Vitamin D.

This is when supplementation becomes necessary coupled with the increased demands of vitamin D.

2-    Calcium

As we age, our bodies become less efficient at absorbing calcium from food, which can cause the body to leach calcium from the bones, weakening them and increasing the risk of fractures. Calcium deficiency has also been linked to issues like irregular heart rhythms, seizures, and sensations of tingling or numbness in the fingers.

3-    Potassium

Muscle mass naturally declines (a process known as sarcopenia) with age and maintaining muscle strength becomes more challenging. Potassium is important for proper muscle function, including muscle contraction and relaxation.

4-    Vitamin B

Healthy ageing is one of the most underrated form of self-care. Hence, it is of great significance proper nutrition is consumed to propel elders towards healthy ageing. B vitamins are vital for DNA and RNA synthesis and repair, immune function, energy production, and cell metabolism. These are just a few of the many uses of vitamin B in body. Ageing affects B vitamin absorption and metabolism, while poor diet and malabsorption, especially of B12, contribute to deficiencies and related health issues in older adults.

Nutrifactor Multifactor

While we often don’t hesitate to pay the exorbitant hospital bills for the elderly, we sometimes hesitate to invest in supplements that could significantly improve their quality of life. Why not go the extra mile for the elderly and provide them with a supplement that can help them live a healthier, more fulfilling life? Nutrifactor’s Multifactor can offer the elderly the extra love and care they deserve as it reduces overall lethargy and provide adequate nutritional support.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
